Ridin'

Dug out my bicycle yesterday and, after a little bit of fiddling to get it into working order again, took a quick ride today. Aside from the obvious exercise benefits, I'd forgotten how much fun that can be.

But that seat's going to be a problem. Gonna have to get a cushier one.

Okay. Getting back on track now.

I was talking to my sister yesterday, and she described my comment last week as a "typical Virgo" thing. That I was looking at my weight last week as a failure, even though I was still down 2 lbs. And that the general attitude is "if you can't excel at it, why bother at all?" Now that I've had a chance to think about it, I can see that. The last time I really tried to lose weight, I got to around 300, hit a plateau, and just gave up. Didn't try to work through it, just thought oh well, and went back to my old habits.

I don't want to do that this time.

Only down 2 this week. At least I think. The numbers on the new scale are kinda hard to read. That's OK... 2 lbs isn't spectacular, but it's still a loss.

My trainer said this morning I should start switching up my cardio workouts, because my body is getting used to the elliptical machine. We need to keep my body on its/my toes, I guess.

Week 3 to Week 13 Comparison

Wow. Looking at this week's total, it's hard to believe I've lost that much already. Even now, I kinda had my doubts about whether or not I could manage this. But the first fifty pounds have just melted off.

Guess you never really know what you can do until you give it a shot, huh?

(Fifty pounds. 50 lbs. 50 Pounds. F-I-F-T-Y P-O-U-N-D-S. It feels really good just saying that.)

So far, I'm averaging 3.75 lbs per week. If that keeps up, I should hit 200lbs by early November. I can certainly live with that.
